Fixing the Internet

One episode at a time

We’re here to fix enshittification. Welcome to Actually Useful!

Meet the Hosts

Ariel Butters

Cohost, Creator

A product manager disillusioned by the endless twiddling of consumer tech products, Ariel decided to scream about it by launching Actually Useful. When she’s not going on tirades against private equity or pulling her hair out over passwords, Ariel can be found at book club or replying to just about everyone on Threads.

Josh Stretten-Carlson

Cohost, Producer

A self-described “guy who’s holding on for dear life,” Josh likes to listen while his much more technically adept cohost Ariel teaches him about two-factor authentication. He also runs the Industry Plant podcast network and loves helping people tell their stories.
